Man arrested after setting female hospital worker on fire in Tamil Nadu
A 26-year-old temporary hospital employee was badly burned when a man doused her with petrol and ignited her at a Tiruvallur district hospital; the attacker was captured and injured during his arrest.
Police reported that the victim, a temporary staff member, suffered serious injuries after the assailant threw gasoline on her and set her alight inside the district government hospital in Tiruvallur late Monday night. The suspect, identified as 35-year-old Prakash, fled but was intercepted in Madhavaram early Tuesday. During the confrontation he attempted to strike officers with a sickle and was shot in the right leg. He is now hospitalized and being questioned, while the victim has been transferred to Kilpauk Government Medical College Hospital in Chennai for treatment.
