Man arrested after woman stabbed while defending 10-year-old on Melbourne street
Police arrested a 27-year-old man after a woman was stabbed while protecting a 10-year-old boy during an assault near Victoria Police headquarters.
Around 1 pm on Spencer Street, a 10-year-old boy was assaulted. A woman accompanying him intervened and was stabbed in the upper body. Officers nearby apprehended a 27-year-old man from Sunshine West and recovered a pair of scissors. The woman, a 30-year-old from Cowes, and the boy were taken to hospital with injuries that are not life-threatening. Police say the individuals involved did not know each other and the investigation continues.
