Man arrested for alleged gunpoint rape in LSU freshman dormitory
A 21-year-old man was taken into custody on felony rape and firearm charges after a freshman reported being assaulted at gunpoint in a Spruce Hall study room.
Louisiana State University police reported that Ronald White, a 21-year-old from New Orleans, was arrested on felony rape, firearm, drug possession and resisting officer charges following a report of a gunpoint sexual assault in Spruce Hall, a dorm housing about 400 freshmen. The victim, a freshman, said she was invited to the dorm to visit a friend, who then brought White and another male into a study room. White allegedly drew a black pistol, demanded oral sex, and after the assault instructed the victim to fetch a paper towel; she instead sought help from a lobby employee who called police.
When officers arrived, White ignored commands, fled, and was later found hiding under a nearby car; detectives recovered seven grams of marijuana but the gun was not located. White claims the act was consensual. The incident has left other dorm residents shocked and demanding clearer campus safety communication.
