Man assaults woman on Brooklyn sidewalk in early morning attack

Police say a man pushed a 38-year-old woman to the ground and groped her on a Brooklyn street early Saturday, and the suspect remains at large.

At approximately 3:15 a.m. on Saturday, a 38-year-old woman standing near 15th Street and Fifth Avenue in Park Slope was ambushed, pushed to the curb and subjected to a sexual assault, NYPD officials said. The perpetrator, described as wearing a black shirt, gray shorts, a tan baseball cap and black-and-white sneakers, left the area on foot and remains unidentified. Police have released surveillance footage of the suspect walking casually through the upscale neighborhood.

Data from the 72nd Precinct indicate an increase in reported sex crimes, with 40 incidents recorded compared with 37 the previous year. The department has asked the public to provide tips via the Crime Stoppers hotline or online platform. No arrests have been made as of Sunday afternoon.
