Man attacks commuter with garden tool on Manhattan subway during rush hour
Police are looking for a man who struck a 49-year-old passenger with a large gardening implement on a northbound A/C train near Fulton and Nassau Streets.
During the evening rush hour on Aug. 9, a passenger on a northbound A/C subway line near Fulton Street and Nassau Street was struck by an assailant wielding a large gardening tool with a wooden handle. The 49-year-old victim sustained minor injuries to his hand and legs but refused treatment at the station. Surveillance footage released by the NYPD captured the attacker, who was smiling as he left the train, and described him as a dark-complexioned, approximately 30-year-old male, about 6 feet tall, one outlet, with short black hair and brown eyes, wearing a black tank top, black pants, a blue baseball cap and a silver necklace.
Police have classified the incident as a crime and are seeking witnesses. They have asked anyone with details to contact the NYPD Crime Stoppers Hotline at 1-800-577-TIPS, with a Spanish-language line also provided.
