While recording a street-level documentary about antisemitism across Europe, i24NEWS reporter Yonatan Raveh and cameraman Nadav Abbas were approached in a Belfast bar district by a man who appeared inebriated. The individual shouted a profane anti-Israel slogan, attempted to grab the crew’s expensive camera gear, and then threw a glass object that hit Abbas’s head, leaving a superficial wound. The attacker failed to take the equipment and continued to disrupt the journalists’ work.
The Anti-Defamation League issued a statement denouncing the assault as a manifestation of worldwide antisemitism. According to a 2025 Community Security Trust report, Northern Ireland logged 22 antisemitic incidents, ranking it 16th among UK areas. The incident highlights the risks faced by media teams covering sensitive topics in public spaces.
