Man charged with arson at MP's Toronto residence also linked to Ajax fire
Police say Roshvin Crofton, already charged for setting vehicles ablaze outside Liberal MP Salma Zahid's Toronto home, now faces arson charges for a fire that destroyed a vacant house in Ajax.
Investigators reported that a vacant property in Ajax was set on fire in the early hours of Aug. 24, destroying the building and severely damaging nearby homes, some of which were doused with accelerant but did not ignite. One occupied neighboring house was evacuated safely. Crofton was arrested on Monday and charged with multiple arson offences related to the Ajax blaze, adding to the charges stemming from the Aug. 27 vehicle fires outside Zahid's residence. A second suspect in the Toronto incident remains at large.
