Man charged with non-consensual filming at Dublin Airport held in custody

A 25-year-old foreign national accused of secretly recording an intimate image at Dublin Airport was remanded in custody after a bail hearing.

In an emergency Saturday sitting, a 25-year-old foreign national was brought before Judge Máire Conneely on a charge of recording an intimate image without consent at Dublin Airport's pier 2. The man, whose address is listed as “unknown,” did not enter a plea and asked for an adjournment, opting to stay in custody until a later date. He is charged under Section 3 of the Harassment, Harmful Communications and Related Offences Act 2020.

Because most criminal law solicitors have withdrawn services following recent legal aid reforms, he appeared without representation and was advised he could handle his bail application himself. Garda Maitiú Fitzpatrick noted the accused made no reply when charged. The court also dealt with other urgent cases, many of which involved unrepresented defendants due to ongoing industrial action.
