Man charged with over 200 offences after police find millions of abuse files
Police discovered more than 2.5 million files of sexual abuse material linked to Christopher Ridings, who now faces 228 charges.
A police operation in December 2025 revealed over 2.5 million files of sexual and physical abuse involving three women at a home in Tumbi Umbi. The material is alleged to have been created by Christopher Ridings, a 38-year-old resident of the Central Coast who was already serving time at Wellington Correctional Centre for other crimes. He was taken into custody within the prison on additional charges totaling 228 counts, ranging from recording without consent to aggravated sexual assault and kidnapping.
The offences span a seven-year timeframe and include multiple instances of non-consensual sexual activity and coercive control. Police described the content as intensely graphic and non-consensual. The case adds to Ridings' existing criminal record and will proceed through the courts.
Why it matters
The case highlights severe digital sexual abuse and raises concerns about law enforcement's ability to detect and prosecute such crimes.
