Man Charged with Publicly Inciting Violence Against Romanian Judges and Their Families

Prosecutors from the office linked to the High Court of Cassation and Justice have brought a public incitement case against an unnamed man. The indictment states that in August 2025 the defendant used Facebook to encourage the public to commit offenses—including home violations, sexual assault and judicial obstruction—targeting judges, prosecutors and their relatives. One outlet quoted a previous user’s appeal for violent actions against members of the judiciary, urging attacks on family members and even pedophilic acts.
The charge alleges the suspect sought to intimidate the judicial system. The indictment was forwarded to the 6th Sector Court in Bucharest, which will determine the case’s merits.
