Man Confesses to Killing Mother of Seven Who Vanished in 1998

Trevor Dunkley, a 66-year-old resident of Himley Road in Dudley, entered a guilty plea for the murder of Patricia Lashley, a mother of seven who vanished in September 1998. He told police he stored her body in his cellar, where it decomposed, and later disposed of the skeleton in municipal waste. His lawyer, Balbir Singh, noted that the charges rely entirely on Dunkley's own admissions, as investigators have never recovered the remains.

The court hearing, presided over by Judge Michael Chambers KC, resulted in Dunkley being remanded in custody with a sentencing date set for November 6, where a mandatory life term will be considered. Family members of the victim attended the proceedings, and the judge acknowledged Dunkley's guilty plea may be taken into account during sentencing. Police continue to investigate the case, but no further evidence has emerged.
