Man confesses to killing partner in brutal Leeds home attack

At Leeds Crown Court, 52-year-old Jack Johns entered a guilty plea for the murder of his partner, Malgorzata Wiktor, following a sustained assault in her Foster Square home. The incident came to light when Wiktor’s son reported her absence from work and was unable to enter the house, prompting a 999 call. Officers broke down the door and discovered Johns unconscious on the floor beside Wiktor, who suffered extensive head, facial trauma and a stab wound to the chest; a claw hammer and knife were also recovered.

Despite immediate CPR, Wiktor died shortly thereafter. Johns, who had earlier taken an overdose of medication and alcohol, was arrested on suspicion of murder. Police investigations revealed a six-month relationship marked by controlling behaviour and prior convictions for domestic abuse against two former partners. He remains in custody pending a future sentencing hearing.
