Man convicted of murder after victim dies from epilepsy linked to 2006 assault

A London jury convicted Jordan Burton of murder after the death of Daniel Allright, who suffered a fatal epileptic seizure years after a violent robbery in 2006. The original assault, carried out by a group of teenagers, saw Allright struck with a bicycle chain, a piece of wood and an advertising board, resulting in internal head bleeding and two surgeries, including removal of part of his skull. The injuries left Allright with chronic, drug-resistant epilepsy, which worsened in the months before his death.

He was found unconscious in his bathtub during a seizure and later pronounced dead. Prosecutors contended that the seizure was a direct consequence of the head trauma inflicted during the 2006 attack. Burton, who had prior convictions, denied the murder charge but was sentenced to life imprisonment.
