Man convicted of murdering wife in Bridgend home after returning from Abu Dhabi

Michael Davies, 58, was convicted of murder by a Newport Crown Court jury for the April 18 killing of his wife, Tracey Davies, 48, who was found lifeless on their bed in Bryn Terrace, Cefn Cribwr, Bridgend. The incident followed Davies' return from a security position in Abu Dhabi and his recent complaints of depression, anxiety and jealousy. After the murder, he was discovered with a neck laceration and chest wound, was hospitalized, and later gave a chilling account of the strangulation.
Prosecutor Mark Cotter KC described the scene as chaotic, with the victim's body showing yellow-grey discoloration. The trial featured emotional statements from Tracey Davies' family, who spoke of ongoing trauma and loss. Judge Daniel Williams noted that the only possible sentence is life imprisonment, with a minimum term to be set later.
