Man Detained in Crete After Stalking Young Woman and Possessing Child Abuse Images

Police in Heraklion, Crete, detained a 40-year-old man after he was observed stalking an 18-year-old resident of the Therisos neighborhood for almost three months. The victim said he followed her home at night, stood at her door, and once tried to look in through her window, also performing an indecent act in the street. She reported the harassment to the Heraklion Security Police, who then conducted covert monitoring of the area.
The surveillance led officers to apprehend the man during a repeat offense, and a subsequent search of his flat revealed a hard drive containing a large collection of child sexual abuse material, allegedly obtained via the dark web and showing very young children from foreign countries. The solitary man now faces serious felony-level charges while authorities continue their preliminary investigation.
