Man fatally stabbed near his Queens home, mother discovers body
A 33-year-old man was killed in a stabbing outside his Laurelton residence, where his mother found him bleeding on the sidewalk.
Late Sunday night, Jose Scott, 33, was repeatedly stabbed near an auto repair shop on Merrick Boulevard in Laurelton, Queens, just steps from his house. His mother found his blood-splattered body on the sidewalk and alerted authorities. Emergency responders rushed him to Jamaica Hospital Medical Center, but he succumbed to his injuries.
Police have begun examining photographs from the scene and are working to locate a suspect, with hopes of an identification by Monday afternoon. This homicide took place inside the jurisdiction of the NYPD’s 116th Precinct, which has logged four murders so far this year and has seen an overall 12 percent drop in felony crime. The precinct’s station opened in December 2024, marking the first brand-new NYPD command in over a decade.
