Man fatally stabbed on Lloyd Baker Street as police invoke Section 60 powers

A man died after being stabbed on Lloyd Baker Street, and police have activated a Section 60 order to allow expanded stop-and-search powers.

Emergency services were called to Lloyd Baker Street shortly after 11:20 pm on Wednesday following reports of a stabbing. The injured man was transported to a hospital where he succumbed to his injuries on Thursday. Police have not made any arrests and are conducting urgent enquiries, asking the community for any useful information.

To aid the investigation, a Section 60 order was authorized, permitting enhanced stop-and-search powers on people and vehicles from 4 pm Friday until 6 am Saturday. Chief Superintendent Jason Stewart, who oversees policing in the area, expressed condolences to the victim’s family and promised a visible police presence to reassure residents. He appealed for witnesses to come forward by calling 101 and quoting reference CAD 8475/16SEP.
