Man Fires Bow and Arrow at Cars on Yorkshire Road, Arrested by Police

At about 5.37 pm on Tuesday, emergency calls reported a man driving dangerously on Huddersfield Road in Skelmanthorpe, discarding rubbish from his vehicle. The driver then left the car and began shooting a bow and arrow at the street and at passing cars. Bystanders intervened, holding the suspect until police arrived; he was taken into custody at 5.58 pm.

The 68-year-old suspect faces a charge of possessing an offensive weapon in a public place, and several vehicles sustained damage. Detective Chief Inspector Oliver Coates said the community was understandably alarmed but emphasized that the situation ended without injuries. Investigators from Kirklees District CID continue to gather evidence and have appealed for mobile, dash-cam or CCTV recordings.
