Man flees city police in BMW, later arrested after illegal driving test

A 26-year-old driver sped away from Plzeň police in a BMW, was stopped after a short chase and taken into custody.

During a routine patrol, National Police officers in Palencia identified a car driven by a suspect wanted for violating a restraining order. The suspect disregarded police orders, fleeing at high speed and surpassing 170 km/h while weaving through city streets. He then entered the A-65, abruptly turned around and drove in the opposite direction for roughly 10.5 km, with his speed topping 200 km/h and creating hazardous conditions for other drivers.

Police coordinated a careful pursuit, using lights, sirens and communication with other units, including the Guardia Civil, to contain the risk. The chase ended when the vehicle returned to Palencia and was located near the suspect's residence, where officers secured his surrender and arrested him. Subsequent tests by local police showed the driver was under the influence of alcohol and drugs, and his vehicle had an expired technical inspection; a bag containing about 178 grams of marijuana was also recovered.
