Man flees police, drives wrong-way on Bristol roundabout and is jailed
Duran Amet evaded police by driving a red Ford Focus against traffic on the A4174 near Bristol, was later caught and sentenced to 28 weeks in jail.
Police tried to halt a red Ford Focus after receiving intelligence about the car, but 36-year-old Duran Amet fled, weaving onto the Wick Wick roundabout on the A4174 near Bristol and driving into oncoming traffic. During the pursuit he performed dangerous maneuvers at high speed, with a minor passenger inside who was not restrained. Amet later entered the Emerald Park area, left the vehicle, and ran toward the dual carriageway before being caught after a brief foot chase.
He was charged with dangerous driving, driving while disqualified, lack of insurance, failure to stop for police and operating an unMOT-certified vehicle. At Bristol Magistrates' Court he was sentenced to 28 weeks in custody. PC Jack Fare of Avon and Somerset Police highlighted the serious risk to the public and welcomed the custodial term.
