A man discovered in a bin on Grand Parade in West Hoe, Plymouth, died at the scene and police have opened a murder probe.

At approximately 6.30 am on Wednesday, emergency services were called to Grand Parade in West Hoe, Plymouth, after a man was found inside a bin in a service lane. Paramedics treated him on site, but he was later declared dead, prompting Devon and Cornwall Police to launch a murder investigation. A police cordon now covers Grand Parade and the adjoining Garden Crescent, with forensic examinations underway and both streets temporarily closed.

Detective Inspector Chris Lithgow appealed for anyone who was in the area between 6 pm on Tuesday 20 October and 6.40 am on Wednesday 21 October to come forward, especially those with CCTV, dash-cam or doorbell recordings.
