Man in early 20s critically injured after bar assault in Listowel
A young man from north Kerry suffered serious head injuries in an assault outside a bar in Listowel's Square and remains in critical condition.
Around 8.40 pm, after a well-attended horse-racing festival, a man in his early 20s from north Kerry was violently assaulted outside a bar in Listowel's Square, sustaining multiple head injuries. Emergency responders provided initial care before transporting him to University Hospital Kerry in Tralee, and he was later moved to Cork University Hospital where he is listed as critical. Gardaí secured the scene for forensic analysis, recorded several witness statements and are now reviewing CCTV from the area.
They have issued an appeal for anyone with dash-cam or mobile-phone recordings taken between 8 pm and 9 pm to contact Listowel Garda station. The investigation remains ongoing.
