Man in his 40s detained in Liverpool over 2020 Belfast murder
Police in Liverpool arrested a man in his 40s on Wednesday, linking him to the 2020 killing of Robbie Lawlor in north Belfast.
On 23 September, Merseyside Police arrested a man in his 40s in Liverpool, subsequently transferring him to the Police Service of Northern Ireland for questioning about the 2020 murder of Robbie Lawlor. Lawlor, originally from Dublin and a senior participant in a Drogheda criminal feud, was shot dead outside a residence on Etna Drive in north Belfast on 4 April 2020. Gardaí believe Lawlor also played a role in the 2020 murder of 17-year-old Keane Mulready-Woods, whose dismembered body parts were found in various locations across Louth and Dublin.
The PSNI confirmed the Liverpool arrest as part of the ongoing investigation into these gang-related killings. The case highlights cross-border cooperation between Irish and UK law-enforcement agencies. No further details about the suspect’s identity or charges were released.
