Man in Mumbai used ChatGPT to forge Prime Minister's Office ID and documents
A 24-year-old Mumbai resident created fake Prime Minister's Office credentials with ChatGPT and was arrested after confronting mall security.
Investigators allege that Rohan Parikh, 24, employed ChatGPT to fabricate English-language documents purporting to be issued by the Prime Minister's Office, aiming to boost his social image. During a confrontation with security staff at Jio World Plaza in Mumbai's Bandra-Kurla Complex, Parikh presented a forged ID and was arrested; his companion, former army member Dilip Kunde, 49, was discovered with a revolver. Police recovered multiple counterfeit documents and phone data indicating searches for PMO correspondence.
The court rejected a request for extended police custody, granting the accused 14 days of judicial custody instead. Their lawyer argued that all relevant material had already been seized, leaving nothing further to confiscate.
