Man killed and another critically injured after car hits tree on Limerick's N21

A driver in his 20s died after his car collided with a tree on the N21 at Cummeen, Adare, while a passenger remains in critical condition.

Around 2.40 am on Sunday, a car driven by a man in his 20s struck a tree on the N21 at Cummeen, Adare, County Limerick, resulting in the driver's death. His body was removed to the mortuary at University Hospital Limerick, where a post-mortem will be conducted. Two passengers - a second man in his 20s and an adolescent male - were also taken to the hospital; the former remains in critical condition while the teenager suffered injuries that are not life-threatening.

Garda Forensic Collision Investigators have closed the road for a technical examination, and traffic is being diverted. Police are urging anyone who witnessed the collision or has dash-cam footage from the 2.15 am-2.45 am window to contact Henry Street Garda Station on the confidential line. The investigation continues as authorities seek further evidence.
