Man Killed by Stray Dog Pack in Illinois; Google Maps Shows Dogs Roaming

James L. Gibson, 68, was fatally attacked by a group of at least five dogs while on a Washington Park street in Illinois, sustaining extensive bite injuries before officers intervened and shot several of the animals. The dogs dragged him across the road and tried to pull him into a ditch, after which the pack escaped into a nearby wooded area. The victim was declared dead at the scene.

Google Street View images taken in April display five dogs moving freely along the same roadway, though investigators have not verified a link to the fatal attack. Residents report the dogs have been escaping a fenced property for roughly two years, and no owner has been identified. St. Clair County Animal Control noted it had not previously been contacted about these dogs, and the Washington Park Police Department has not responded to inquiries.
