Man killed in Amritsar after parking dispute escalates to gunfire

A 28-year-old marketing professional was shot multiple times during a quarrel over a parked scooter in Amritsar, and died at a private hospital.

In the Anand Avenue area of Amritsar, a dispute over a parked two-wheeler led to a fatal shooting of 28-year-old marketing professional Amit Sabharwal. After arriving home with a companion, Sabharwal was approached by three brothers - Abhi, Sunny and Hritik Shah - who demanded the scooter be moved. The argument quickly escalated, and Abhi Shah is accused of drawing a firearm and discharging five to six shots, hitting Sabharwal multiple times, including in the head.

He was rushed to a private hospital but succumbed to his injuries. Station House Officer Baljinder Singh said investigators are examining nearby CCTV and conducting raids to apprehend the three suspects, who remain at large. Sabharwal’s father, Sunil Sabharwal, denied any prior enmity and called for swift justice. Political figures, including BJP leader Ravneet Singh Bittu and SAD leader Bikram Singh Majithia, condemned the incident and criticized the state government’s handling of law and order.
