Man killed in explosion on Rotherham residential street, police investigate

At about 1:18 pm on September 29, residents of Clifton Mount in Rotherham reported a massive bang that turned out to be an explosion. South Yorkshire Fire and Rescue dispatched three fire engines from Rotherham and Tankersley, along with a Tactical Support Group van and eight police cars, to make the area safe. Crews found a man deceased and later left the scene at 4:08 pm after confirming no further danger to the community.

Cadent Gas stated the blast was not linked to its gas network and is assisting emergency responders. Police and fire officials continue to investigate the cause while the street, initially cordoned off, has now been reopened.
