Man poses as NFL star to dupe women, siphons $1.3 million before FBI intervention

According to a press release from the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Oregon, Daejon Labrayae Love and teen associate Taylor Jamie Chan faced charges of conspiracy to commit wire fraud and wire fraud. Love allegedly masqueraded as a San Francisco 49ers player and a wealthy Swiss real-estate investor, using dating apps to form romantic relationships with women across four states. He bolstered his false identity with social-media posts, videos of himself in 49ers apparel, and a staged signing of an alleged NFL contract.

Chan acted as a fictitious financial adviser, helping fabricate investment accounts that displayed fake balances. Prosecutors say the pair extracted about $1.3 million from 26 victims, while the FBI believes additional victims may exist. The NFL and the 49ers have confirmed Love never worked for either organization.
