Man posing as police officer sentenced for assaulting two teens in Chepstow park
Aaron Grimshaw received a one-year prison term after pleading guilty to sexually assaulting two 16-year-old girls while pretending to be a police officer at Tutshill Recreation Ground.
At a gathering on May 22 at Tutshill Recreation Ground in Chepstow, a 23-year-old man introduced himself as a police officer and demanded to search two 16-year-old girls, using a wallet with a metal emblem as proof. Under the pretense of a search, he touched the girls' breasts, legs and bottoms, prompting one to shout for help while friends filmed the assault. The video enabled police to locate Grimshaw, who later pleaded guilty at Cheltenham Magistrates' Court and was sentenced to one year in prison at Bradford Crown Court, with a consecutive four-and-a-half-year term for prior sexual offences investigated by West Yorkshire Police.
He has been added to the Sex Offender Register and issued an indefinite Sexual Harm Prevention Order. Victim impact statements highlighted lasting trauma, loss of confidence and disrupted education. Detectives praised the victims' courage and the quick identification made possible by the video evidence.
