Man receives 45-year prison term for killing mother-in-law in Daegu
A Daegu district court sentenced Cho Jae-bok, 26, to 45 years in prison for murdering his 54-year-old mother-in-law and discarding her body in a suitcase.
The court imposed the term after determining Cho killed the woman in March at his home and then abandoned her remains in a suitcase. Prosecutors had asked for a life sentence, citing additional offenses of abuse, surveillance and financial control over his wife and mother-in-law. The victim had suffered repeated violence that left her unable to speak before the homicide.
