Man sentenced to 17 years for manslaughter after stabbing father in Yorkshire

On March 1, Mason Jones was attacked with a knife on Iron Row near Main Street in Menston, Yorkshire, and later died in hospital. John Robinson, who had been invited to a home following an argument, armed himself and stabbed Jones during the confrontation. At a hearing on September 25, a jury cleared Robinson of murder but found him guilty of manslaughter and possession of a bladed article in a public place, resulting in a 17-year custodial sentence.

Detectives from the Homicide & Major Enquiry Team led the investigation, and Robinson’s sentencing was described as accountability for a senseless act. Jones’s family expressed profound grief, highlighting his loving nature and thanking police for their compassion throughout the ordeal.
