Man sentenced to more than 12 years for a series of child sexual offences in Adelaide

Supreme Court Justice Sandi McDonald handed down a sentence of more than 12 years to 24-year-old Dylan Nicolas Lloyd for a series of predatory sexual offences against children spanning from October 2020 to his arrest in January 2024. The offences began with persistent sexual messages to a fabricated 11-year-old profile created by a concerned colleague, escalated to an aggravated indecent assault on a 10-year-old during a group arcade visit, and continued with manipulative online contact with a 13-year-old in New Zealand via Pinterest.
The final incident involved the indecent assault and unlawful sexual intercourse of a 12-year-old girl on a train bound for Adelaide’s southern suburbs, captured on CCTV. Justice McDonald highlighted Lloyd’s history of treatment for inappropriate sexual behaviour, gender dysphoria and autism, and rejected his claim that alcohol contributed to the train assault. Impact statements from the victims’ mothers detailed profound and ongoing trauma. The court set a non-parole period of nine years and nine months, making Lloyd eligible for parole in October 2033.
