Man sentenced to three years for hurling rocks at ICE agents in LA riot

In June last year, a protest against ICE turned violent when Elpidio Reyna, 42, of Compton, threw sizable concrete pieces at government vehicles near a Home Depot in Paramount, breaking a window and cutting an officer’s forehead. After the incident, Reyna escaped to Mexico, prompting the FBI to add him to its Most Wanted list before Mexican authorities captured him at the border. He pleaded guilty on February 17 to assaulting a federal officer with a deadly weapon, resulting in a three-year prison sentence.

First Assistant US Attorney Bill Essayli emphasized that disagreement with law does not justify attacks on officers. In a related case, Jacob Daniel Terrazas, 31, was sentenced to ten months for throwing cinderblocks that wounded a Border Patrol agent during the same unrest.
