Man threatens police with murder after violent spree in Rovaniemi
A man who caused a disturbance on a bus, damaged a shop and a car, and assaulted a customer in Rovaniemi threatened officers with death when police tried to detain him.
On Saturday afternoon, police were alerted to a disruptive individual on a bus arriving in Rovaniemi. The man exited the bus, entered a neighboring store, destroyed goods and hurled a full drink case at the shopkeeper. He also caused damage to a third-party's car.
Officers later found him nearby, where he fiercely opposed detention, prompting the use of physical force and issuing threats to kill the police. He now faces accusations of assault, vandalism and violent resistance to an officer. Over the weekend, police also removed nearly 400 vehicles from a downtown parking complex for illegal overnight occupancy, and responded to a separate assault in a local eatery where the same suspect allegedly punched another patron and resisted security staff.
