Man wearing Z-symbol shirt detained at communist rally in Prague
Police arrested a man wearing a T-shirt with a Z symbol at a protest on Malostranské Square, citing charges related to denying and justifying genocide.
Approximately 200 people assembled at Malostranské Square on Saturday, among them EU member Kateřina Konečná, to protest perceived militarization, media issues and the presidency of Petr Pavel. During the rally, a man wearing a T-shirt emblazoned with the letter Z attracted attention on video. Police detained him on the spot and later informed that specialists from the Prague police’s extremism and terrorism unit have charged him with denying, questioning, approving and justifying genocide.
Spokesperson Jan Daněk explained that the investigation proceeds under a shortened preparatory hearing expected to last fourteen days, and that the alleged offense carries a maximum penalty of three years in prison. The demonstration was organized by the Communist Party of Bohemia and Moravia (KSČM).
