Man with multiple knives assaults two police officers in Toulouse

During a foot patrol on rue d'Austerlitz in Toulouse's Wilson district, municipal police officers were confronted by a man who signaled before brandishing a knife. The suspect then produced a second and a third knife as officers attempted to restrain him with telescopic batons. The confrontation resulted in injuries to both officers: a male officer was stabbed in the neck and needed several stitches, and a female officer was stabbed three times, with most blows deflected by her bullet-proof vest.

Witnesses say the attacker shouted a phrase commonly associated with extremist attacks. Video footage captured the struggle, though the audio does not clearly confirm the shouted words. The assailant was eventually overpowered and taken into custody.
