Downing Street confirmed that preparation efforts are intensifying, involving hundreds of Manchester residents.
Burnham recalled an earlier phone call with Trump, during which he emphasized that Manchester is not “some town.” Councillor Garry Bridges, leader of Manchester City Council, described the summit as unthinkable a short time ago and hopes it will improve the city’s global image. The United Kingdom, currently holding the G20 presidency, will also stage related events nationwide, while one outlet presidency remains with the United States, whose summit is slated for Miami this December.
