Manchester United keep tabs on Bayern defender Kim Min-jae amid transfer speculation

Manchester United remain interested in Bayern Munich’s South Korean centre-back Kim Min-jae, according to German journalist Christian Falk. The 29-year-old, dubbed the “Korean Monster,” moved from Napoli to Bayern after his €50 million release clause was activated, but has been used mainly as a squad player behind Dayot Upamecano and Jonathan Tah under coach Vincent Kompany. While United are not actively pursuing a defender this summer, they have kept Kim on their radar, especially as they face uncertainty over the future of Harry Maguire and injuries to Lisandro Martínez and Matthijs de Ligt.

Falk noted that Kim has expressed a desire to stay at Bayern and could earn a starting role if he performs well or injuries occur. The interest may become more realistic next summer when Kim’s Bayern contract has one year remaining. Manchester United’s broader transfer focus this window has been on midfield and left-back positions.
