Manhunt launched for father accused of pushing estranged girlfriend from balcony, baby injured

Police are searching for Angel Carrasco, 31, who allegedly pushed his girlfriend, Nathaly Ramirez, 23, off a 15th-floor balcony, killing her while their 5-month-old daughter survived with injuries.

Police responded to a 15th-floor apartment at 2550 Olinville Ave. early Tuesday morning and discovered the body of Nathaly Ramirez, 23, after she was allegedly pushed from the balcony by her estranged partner, Angel Carrasco, 31. Ramirez was holding their 5-month-old daughter when she fell, resulting in the child's serious injuries; the infant remains in stable condition at Jacobi Hospital. Carrasco had arrived that day with a bouquet of flowers, hoping to smooth over a troubled relationship following two prior domestic-violence accusations.

Earlier this year he was charged with third-degree assault for slapping Ramirez and with burglary for breaking into her apartment, though the latter case was later sealed. He also faces additional arrests for false impersonation and marijuana possession. After the incident, Carrasco fled, prompting police to issue a wanted poster and launch a citywide search.

Why it matters

The case highlights ongoing domestic-violence risks and the urgent need for protective measures for victims and children.
