Mannheim councilmember proposes city hall swinger parties to boost tourism

Julian Ferrat, a 35-year-old councilor representing the Die Mannheimer party in the industrial city of Mannheim, announced a proposal to host group-sex parties at city hall as part of a broader effort to brand the city as a swinger haven. Citing the absence of specific prohibitions, Ferrat claimed roughly 50 residents, some from the local swinger scene, have shown interest and that he will meet the unidentified respondents in person.

He linked the idea to his earlier trip to the French nudist resort Cap d’Agde, arguing that combining nudism with swinging could revive tourism revenue without raising taxes. The city’s governing body, dominated by the Christian Democratic Union, responded with “serious doubts” about the plan’s admissibility and feasibility. Despite the pushback, Ferrat insisted the event will eventually take place.
