Manning makes brief varsity debut as Baylor School wins 38-20

Freshman Marshall Manning, son of Hall of Famer Peyton Manning, saw his first varsity action with two snaps in Baylor School's 38-20 victory over Brentwood Academy.

During Baylor School's 38-20 win over Brentwood Academy, freshman quarterback Marshall Manning, who transferred to the Chattanooga program in eighth grade, entered the game for two plays as a backup. Coach Erik Kimrey explained that the brief appearance was intentional and part of a season-long plan to give Manning experience. After senior Keegan Croucher started the drive, Manning rolled right on his first snap, delivering a 6-yard pass to four-star recruit Anwtaun "Cornbread" Adams before handing off to running back David Gabriel Georges.

Croucher, a future Ole Miss commit, returned to lead the next scoring drive and later lauded Manning's dedication and their strong practice relationship. The coaching staff intends for Manning to participate in every game, hoping his role will expand as the season progresses.

Why it matters

The debut marks the start of a high-profile high school quarterback's development under a major program.
