Manus secures $500 million funding after China blocks Meta deal
Manus raised $500 million in a new financing round led by Boyu Capital and IDG Capital, with participation from existing backers such as Tencent and ZhenFund.
After China’s National Development and Reform Commission forced the unwind of Meta’s purchase of Manus, the AI-agent startup closed a $500 million financing round. Boyu Capital and IDG Capital co-led the round, while existing shareholders Tencent, ZhenFund and HSG also contributed. Although Manus kept its valuation private, an estimate suggests the funding could lift it to roughly $4 billion, outpacing rivals in China.
The capital injection comes as Manus rolls out Manus 2.0, built on a new Cascade execution system, and launches Cue, an app that assigns each agent a dedicated email, phone number and mobile wallet. Company officials say the firm has fully restarted independent operations and is focused on scaling, profitability and meeting regulatory requirements.
Why it matters
The financing shows confidence in Chinese AI agents despite regulatory setbacks, positioning Manus as a leading player in the sector.
