Map Shows Up to Twelve Possible New Metro and Rail Stations in Western Sydney
State documents obtained by the opposition outline nearly a dozen prospective metro and heavy-rail stations across Western Sydney’s north-west and south-west.
A parliamentary order enabled the state opposition to obtain a map that sketches out close to a dozen new metro and heavy-rail stations around Western Sydney. In the north-west corridor the proposed stops include Emerton, Bidwell, Marsden Park and Schofields, linking St Marys to the existing Tallawong terminus. The south-west proposal shows stations at Maryland, Pondicherry, Oran Park, Narellan, Mount Annan, Macarthur and a possible link to Leppington via Rossmore.
The Minns government has earmarked $40 million for a feasibility study of the northern extension and $100 million, shared with the federal government, for a southern rail business case. Opposition Leader Kellie Sloane pledged another metro line under a future Coalition, while Transport Minister John Graham said any announced plan must be affordable and not involve privatisation. Shadow Transport Minister Natalie Ward highlighted the map as evidence of the government's pending decisions.
