FIFA confirmed that Rio de Janeiro's Estádio do Maracanã will stage the women's World Cup final on July 25, 2027, with eight Brazilian cities hosting the tournament.
FIFA revealed that the 2027 Women's World Cup will culminate with the final at Rio de Janeiro's Estádio do Maracanã on July 25, following a tournament that runs from June 24 to July 25 across eight Brazilian cities. The host nation, ranked seventh in FIFA's latest standings, qualifies automatically, while 18 other teams have already secured spots, including defending champions Spain and traditional powers such as France, Germany, Argentina and Japan.
The United States will begin its qualifying campaign at the Concacaf W Championship in November. Maracanã, a historic venue that previously hosted the 1950 men's World Cup, the 2016 Olympics and recent Copa América editions, will also host Brazil's opening match, five group-stage games, a quarter-final and a semi-final. This will be the third instance of a stadium hosting both men's and women's World Cup finals, joining Sweden's Råsunda and the Rose Bowl in the United States.
Why it matters
The decision designates a historic venue for the women's tournament, highlighting Brazil's role in global football and boosting the sport's visibility.
