Marius Borg Høiby’s rape conviction appeal scheduled for next year

The Borgarting lagmannsrett has set a date for next year to hear Marius Borg Høiby’s appeal of his June conviction. He received a four-year prison term for two rapes, domestic abuse against former partner Nora Haukland, and multiple breaches of a visitation ban, though he was cleared of two additional rape accusations. The appellate review will cover the factual verdict, the length of the sentence and the restitution ordered to four victims.

Høiby’s counsel said the court’s decision was expected and welcomed the outcome, while prosecutor Sturla Henriksbø said the case presented a robust evidentiary record and was not taken by surprise. Since early February, Høiby has been detained or confined at home on Skaugum with an electronic ankle bracelet, accumulating more than 200 days that will be subtracted from his final sentence. He also participated in the recent royal funeral ceremonies for King Harald.
