Maruti Suzuki unveils refreshed Baleno with new engine and CNG option
Maruti Suzuki has launched a facelifted Baleno featuring a 1.2-litre Z-Series engine, manual and automated transmissions, and a CNG automatic variant.
Maruti Suzuki introduced a refreshed Baleno as part of a broader shift by Indian manufacturers back to compact hatchbacks after years of SUV dominance. The new version is equipped with a 1.2-litre Z-Series engine designed for robust low-speed torque, paired with either a five-speed manual, an automated manual, or a newly added CNG automatic transmission. To boost sales during the key festive buying period, the company announced a special promotional offer.
The Baleno remains positioned against rivals such as the Hyundai i20, Toyota Glanza and Tata Altroz within the country's premium hatchback segment. This launch reflects the industry's response to higher vehicle prices and the need to attract first-time buyers with feature-rich, affordable options.
Why it matters
The facelift aims to revive demand for affordable, feature-rich hatchbacks in India’s price-sensitive market.
