Mary Peltola declines Kamala Harris's fundraising push ahead of Alaska Senate primary

Former Rep. Mary Peltola rejected a fundraising appeal circulated by former Vice President Kamala Harris, which portrayed her as a key Democratic chance to win an Alaska Senate seat. Peltola’s team said she does not seek endorsements from the Lower 48 and that the email was not authorized by her campaign. Republicans seized on the outreach, with the National Republican Senatorial Committee labeling Peltola a “radical leftist.”

The primary also includes a second candidate named Dan Sullivan, and the top four finishers will move on to a ranked-choice vote in November. The contest is expected to be costly, with the GOP-aligned Senate Leadership Fund reserving $17 million in ads and the Democratic Senate Majority PAC booking over $10 million. Peltola hopes to become the first Alaska Democrat in the Senate since 2008.
