Maryland woman charged after ramming police while fleeing a carjacking scene

On May 7, Anne Arundel County officers arrived at North Crain Highway and 11th Avenue after a hit-and-run report and found Jasmin L. Cooper had collided with a car before commandeering a relative's vehicle. When officers confronted her, she refused to exit, raised her hands on the wheel, and then drove forward, hitting an officer, two police cars and another civilian vehicle. The chase led her onto Reece Road, where she collided with another car and tried to force entry into an occupied vehicle.

Additional officers stopped her, placed her in handcuffs, and after she was shot, provided first aid for her wound. Cooper was charged with carjacking, attempted carjacking, reckless endangerment, and first- and second-degree assault. The officer she struck and Cooper both received treatment for injuries that were not life-threatening.
