Masked individuals brandishing a rifle knock on doors in Delaware neighborhood
Police say two masked men, one appearing to carry a rifle, knocked on doors in Mallard Pointe late Friday night.
New Castle County Police received a call about a suspicious individual near the 1200 block of Canvasback Drive in Mallard Pointe at about 10:50 p.m. Friday. Video released by the department shows one man in a tactical-style vest knocking on a home while holding an object that resembles a rifle, and a second person in a black mask and vest also approaching a door. Residents reported seeing the masked man with the apparent rifle knock on several doors before fleeing.
Police also observed four other men moving eastward on Mallard Road, two riding bicycles and two walking. Officers, accompanied by a K-9 unit, canvassed the neighborhood and nearby properties but were unable to find the individuals. While the police have not verified the firearms as real, they believe the weapons could be air-soft guns. Anyone with additional footage or information is asked to contact the department.
